Tea Houses
By Shoko Mizuno

Tea houses are a traditional Japanese style of house. Tatami mats, made from can and rush, are used for the floor so it is soft. We must take our shoes off when we are in a tea house because the tatami is easily bruised.

There are three rooms in a Japanese tea house: the arranging room, the visitor's room and the tea ceremony room. The tea ceremony room is where tea is served and this room is decorated with a vase of flowers and a scroll.
