Chi is gaining popularity in Japan. Tai Chi, called "taikyokuken"
in Japanese, comes from China. In China, if you go out at 5 or 6
o'clock in the morning, you will find there are many people doing
exercise in the park and in the playgrounds. Not only the elderly
but also the youth are doing all kinds of exercise.
Tai
Chi is a branch of the traditional Chinese sport of wu-shu. It helps
you keep fit and prevents diseases. It has been widely practiced
among people since the 16th century. It forms an important part
of the treatment prescribed by hospitals.
Tai
Chi is popular because it is an adaptation of a simplified set of
exercises and it is efficient in treating chronic diseases such
as high blood pressure, neurasthenia and pulmonary tuberculosis.
